Too many business owners ignore what they know they have to do to allow their company to grow beyond their span of control. The first step is understanding that there is a rhythm to growth. The second step is to recognize your role as a CEO is to 'let it go to let it grow'. Here are three things you can do to help you move the company away from it being all about you, the CEO. 1.    Hire quality people that know more than you do when it comes to different aspects of the company. If you are the expert today in selling your service or product, capture the essence of why you are so successful, create the sales process so it can be repeated and then look to hire capable sales people. If you are the expert in the technology or the service offering, stop being the 'go to person' by mentoring capable people in your organization to take the lead in interactions with the client. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of simply 'doing more faster' instead of creating processes that allow others to get involved. 2.    Recognize the value your employees bring to the company and take the time to engage them in the thinking process. Don't assume they 'just want to do their job' or 'they really don't understand the customer'. Talk about strategy daily. Talk about their issues. When you run into employees during the day, ask questions that encourage their insight. Let them know you want to hear from them. Be transparent and authentic in interactions with your direct reports. 3.    Embrace processes in order to allow more freedom, to allow people the ability to take charge of certain aspects of the company without having to 'check in' with you on every little issue. Typically, entrepreneurs are not process people. They are action-oriented and simply 'move'. Quickly. It's how they run their organizations in the early stages of growth. The sooner a business owner embraces the idea of creating processes that allow people to succeed, the sooner a business owner can step away from the day-to-day and focus on the right things at the right time.
